Nothing will get you into the Christmas spirit like this festive break. With snowcapped mountains and all the merriment of the season, Innsbruck is a gift for everyone who visits.

Day 1: Following your early morning home taxi collection we head for Dover for our ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue to our overnight hotel arriving in plenty of time to settle in before tonight’s evening meal.

Day 2: After breakfast we continue our journey into spectacular Austria, making suitable refreshment stops, and head towards the beautiful Alps region of the Tyrol to our hotel in Igls, Bon Alpina with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 3: A Day at leisure in Igls. You may wish to spend the day at the hotel to make use of the facilities, or explore this popular holiday destination at your own pace. Why not visit parish church, which is located next to the small tourist information centre, or perhaps embark on a cable car ride up the mountain (not included). But not to be missed is the “Igls Mountain Christmas” a festive parade which takes place every year in the town centre, from the old townhall to the tourist information centre. Tonights evening meal will be a buffet dinner with a glass of mulled wine.

Day 4: Today visit the capital city of Innsbruck where you can explore at your leisure. Innsbruck is the capital of Austria’s western state of the Tyrol and is well known for its imperial and modern architecture. Perhaps visit the Swarovski crystal shop, which is turned into a Christmas grotto during the festive period. Be sure to discover the old quarter with its charming arcaded streets, the famous Golden Roof, stroll along the Maria Theresien Strasse with its bustling shops or climb the Tower of the City for magnificent views of the city. Please remember that Christmas Eve in Austria is a traditional religious festival. This may mean that facilities in towns, villages and hotels may close early. We then take a scenic drive back to the hotel in the afternoon. Tonight’s evening meal will be a 4 course Austrian Christmas dinner with a glass of prosecco. This will be followed by an evening of Christmas songs, carols & poems.

Day 5: Christmas Day at the Hotel - ‘Merry Christmas’! Enjoy breakfast before opening presents from Father Christmas! Later, we sit down to an Austrian Christmas Day Turkey lunch (with 2 complimentary drinks – wine or beer), followed by Christmas pudding and cake. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to relax, or to walk off the indulgent dinner in the village. The beautiful village of Igles has stunning views of the iconic Patscherkofel Mountain, which has hosted downhill skiing and bob sleigh events on 2 occasions during the Winter Olympics of 1964 & 1976. For those that still feel peckish in the evening, there will be a meal followed by music and dancing into the evening.

Day 6: After breakfast we depart our hotel and travel over the Brenner pass to one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, Vipiteno which is more Austrian in feel than Italian. The main street in the town, called the Via Citta Nuova, has a good number of attractive and grand Renaissance period villas to admire and speciality shops to browse. The houses along the streets are painted in bright colours and are always a pleasure to walk along. During our time here you will also have time to visit the beautiful Christmas Market, here local craftsmen offer their works of art and traditional gifts for sale. Tonight’s dinner which is followed by musical entertainment and dancing.

Day 7: Today we bid farewell to Austria and return to the overnight hotel in France, making suitable comfort stops along the way.

Day 8: After breakfast we depart the hotel to catch the return ferry home. Upon arrival back in Norfolk, our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.

Festive programme subject to change.
