Sunday 20th – Saturday 26th June 2021

Bantry, in the heart of West Cork, is a region of palm trees and semi-tropical flowers, hemmed in by high mountain ridges, blue sea and cascading mountain streams. It is a place of unparalleled beauty where the landscape changes with every mood of wind and sky. Explore the beauty and unspoiled landscapes of West Cork, arguably the most scenic part of Ireland. The south west boasts a vast array of picturesque coastal landscapes, charming towns and villages. Garnish Island has got to be seen to be believed; this unique Island plays host to a multitude of plant variations which covers the Island and creates a rainbow of colour.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we head across country to The Celtic Royal, Caernarfon, North Wales for our overnight stop with ample time to settle in before our evening meal.

Day 2: An early start to board the morning ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. Due to the early departure from the hotel, breakfast is on board the vessel. Upon arrival, we travel to the Maritime Hotel, Bantry for our four-night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.

Day 3: Free day with an opportunity to enjoy the hotel's excellent leisure facilities or explore the harbour town of Bantry. Alternatively, why not walk up to Bantry House (entrance not included), one of the first historic houses to open in Ireland and commanding one of the best views overlooking Bantry Bay. Dating back to the second Earl of Bantry and reflecting his many expeditions, the structure of the surrounding garden has changed little through the years

Day 4: Full day excursion along the Beara Peninsula, perhaps the most remote, which is dotted with small fishing villages with stunning backdrops. We travel over the Healy Pass to Lauragh, Adrgroom and Eyeries, then on to Castletownbere, once a haven for smugglers. We continue along the shores of Bantry Bay, through Adrigole to Glengarriff. In the afternoon we take a trip with the Harbour Queen Ferries to Garnish Island and its Italianate garden that flourishes in this temperate climate. Keep an eye out for the colony of seals along the way

Day 5: Today we venture south through Cork countryside to Mizen Head, Ireland’s most southerly point reached along a rocky coastline, sliced by small coves. We travel south via Durrus and Golleen, enjoying fabulous views across to Clear Island and Fastnet Rock before climbing the sandstone cliff overlooking Barleycove. Visitors to Mizen Vision can also walk down to the signal station, although not for the faint-hearted as to reach the island you must cross an arched bridge that spans the vast gulf over the sea below

Day 6: We travel to the port of Dublin for our mid-afternoon crossing to Holyhead. On arrival, we continue to our overnight hotel in north Wales.

Day 7: We depart for the journey to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival, our door to door service home will be waiting to return you home.
