Take a self-guided tour of this architectual masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries. Westminster Abbey presents a unique pageant of British history from the shrine of Edward the Confessor, the tombs of Kings & Queens and memorials to the famous and great.
This has also been the setting for every coronation since 1066 and has seen 16 Royal weddings.
With the Abbey’s rich history, there are many parts you can visit which include Poets’ Corner, Coronation Chair, The Lady Chapel, Royal Tombs, Unknown Warrior, The Quire, Cloisters, Chapter House and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries.
For those if you who wish to see the Shrine of Edward the Confessor, you will need to book on to a Verger-tour on arrival as this is not open for public viewing. This is an additional cost to yourself of £10 per person. Our advice if you wanted to do this would be to book the 2pm tour which last for 90 minutes.
Located at the end of the west cloister is the Cellarium Café and Terrace which offers lunch, drinks, snacks and afternoon tea.
On arrival, you will be given a multimedia guide. A shortened version of the guide can be downloaded onto your phone or tablet. Click here for more information and the links to your mobile app provider.
