Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we head North to Ravenscar and the Raven Hall Hotel for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we head to Thirsk, a small market town which was once home to the author James Herriot. Whilst here we have included entrance to the world of James Herriot. Like millions worldwide, you’ve probably read his books or watched All Creatures Great and Small, or maybe you’ve heard of James Herriot on the TV series The Yorkshire Vet. On your visit you will see where James Herriot, the world’s most famous vet, lived, worked and wrote his incredibly successful series of books based on his experiences as a young North Yorkshire vet. We continue our day with a drive up Sutton Bank to stop at the delightful town of Helmsley. There’s plenty to do in the town, from fascinating attractions including the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle, Helmsley Arts Centre and the Walled Gardens, to award-winning eateries and the town’s very own Brewery. (attractions in Helmsley subject to individual choice and payment). On our return to the hotel we take a scenic route along Blakley Ridge.
Day 3: Our first visit this morning is to Preston Park Hall and Museum. The estate is set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland overlooking the River Tees. The museum has displays of art, armour and social history. Visitors can discover what life was like in the home from 1825 and stroll back in time along a typical local street of the 1890s where the museum’s resident traditional craftspeople can be found at work. As well as the museum, Preston Park also has a range of permanent attractions including exotic bird life in the aviary and wildfowl pond and many riverside and woodland paths. This afternoon we visit the seaside resort of Saltburn. The delightful coastal town Saltburn-by-the-sea bestows plenty of Victorian charm and thrills. From the water balanced cliff lifts to the last remaining pier in Yorkshire, Saltburn promises its visitors an authentic seaside experience! There's plenty to entertain too as the town has an up and coming arts scene & lots of restaurants.
Day 4: This morning we make the short journey to Whitby. A town that offers something a little different to your ‘typical’ coastal resort and will no doubt surprise you when you visit. Famous for its connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby has always embraced its association with Gothic culture which is reflected in the town’s quirky streets, shops and Abbey ruins. When you visit you can explore ornate cobbled paths, locally-owned shops and quirky cafes that give Whitby it's intriguing yet welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to visit. Being by the sea you’ll also get to enjoy classic seaside fun and food with locally caught crab & lobster as well as sandcastle building and walks along the pier! Whitby is also a place for explorers, with connection to the famous voyager Captain James Cook. The great man is immortalised in a monument up on West Cliff, where he can be seen looking out to his favourite place – the sea. You can also learn more about his life and journeys in Whitby at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum (entrance not included).
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and return to Norfolk, where our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
