Staying at the lovely Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield, with its excellent, we will discover Brontë Country and visit Haworth, a small village with a cobbled street lined with vintage shops. We will also enjoy a ride on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway – those familiar with the classic ‘Railway Children’ film are sure to recognise the surrounding scenery, as well as a ride on the famous Wensleydale Railway.

For those who yearn for an era of leisurely pace, of times gone by, dramatic, romantic landscapes broken by the familiar sound of a steam train making its way through a backdrop of rolling countryside, this is a tour not to be missed.

Day 1: Following your home taxi service, we join our luxury tour coach and make our way to Yorkshire and the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield for our 4 night stay, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: This morning we begin with a drive to the pleasant North Yorkshire market town of Settle, where we enjoy a ride on the Settle and Carlisle Railway, considered to be one of England’s most scenic rail journeys. We join the diesel train for the journey, passing through spectacular scenery, crossing the famous Ribblehead viaduct and stopping at Kirkby Stephen. We then rejoin the coach for the short journey into Hawes, the main town of the dale. After a break and chance to obtain lunch we continue along Wensleydale past Aysgarth to join the Wensleydale Railway, a unique and exciting project to restore train services along the whole of Wensleydale, re-instating one of the east-west rail links of the past. A journey of about 40 minutes. Afterwards we return to the hotel.

Day 3: Today we head off along the Aire Valley to Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales. With its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty. Take a stroll around the town and explore some of the interesting alleyways and shops. From Skipton we make our way to Haworth, home of the famous Brontë sisters, Haworth is an undisputed literary mecca, attracting visitors from all around the world. With its historic cobbled Main Street, iconic parsonage and rolling moors, the picturesque proportions of this Airedale village exude a vintage charm that makes you feel you’ve stepped into another era. Little has changed in the village since they lived in the parsonage. Later we enjoy a journey on the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway, which runs like a ribbon though Brontë Country. Here you can expect to take in some of the most breathtaking and famous landscapes in the world. A windswept land of heather and wild moors – it is hardly surprising that this area became the inspiration for the classic works of the Bronte sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne. The Railway has appeared in many TV and film productions including Sherlock Holmes, Peaky Blinders, Disney’s 2019 remake of Dumbo and many more. Perhaps most famously, the Railway, and in particular the charming station at Oakworth, were used as the location for the classic 1970 film The Railway Children. Step back in time and relive this well-loved tale as you watch the vintage steam trains puff their way in and out of the valley.

Day 4: Our journey today begins with a visit to Bolton Abbey. The Abbey and ruined Priory are set in a beautiful and tranquil location alongside the River Wharfe, surrounded by moorland, woodland and riverside - a truly inspirational setting for many. We have time for a stroll through this beautiful landscape, part of the Duke of Devonshire’s estate. Continuing through beautiful Dales scenery we visit the Dales village of Grassington - one of Yorkshire’s prettiest villages. Picture a bustling cobbled market square, fringed by shops offering local foods, speciality gifts and arts and crafts. Add other attractions such as friendly cafés, restaurants and cosy hotels, all set against a backdrop of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and that’s Grassington.

Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk making suitable stops along the way. Upon our arrival we re-join our door to door taxi service who will return you home.
