Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way north to Harrogate making suitable stops en route.
Day 2: Our day begins with a morning at leisure in the elegant spa town of Harrogate, where notable sights include the Royal Pump Room and the attractive Montpellier Quarter with its pedestrianised streets lined with 19th-century buildings that are now home to galleries, boutiques and cafés. We recommend a visit to the famous Betty's Tea Rooms. With its ornate fascia and delicious cakes, Betty's is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee. We then continue on to RHS Garden Harlow Carr which presents an intriguing mix of innovative planting styles and design and is a relaxing place of water, woodland and stone that blends into the surrounding Yorkshire landscape.
Day 3: After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to York where upon arrival we have included a cruise along the River Ouse. Wherever you sit on the vessel you will have a great view to uncover the history of this ancient city and the immense impact the River Ouse has had on its development. From the impact of flooding over the centuries to its prosperity as an inland port, bringing precious goods from across the globe into York, including the humble cocoa bean, that super-charged York’s world-famous chocolate industry. You’ll discover more about all this history, as well as picking up some local knowledge, thanks to live, on-board commentary from the home-grown skippers. The rest of the day is then free to enjoy at your leisure. Rich in ancient history, romantic ambience and fun activities, York is renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets, iconic York Minster and wealth of visitor attractions. Delve into the city's vibrant café culture, take time out to enjoy the famous shambles, Jorvik centre, or even the railway museum.
Day 4: After breakfast we travel to Haworth via the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a stop in the charming canal-side village of Kildwick en-route. Here we meet our guide who will take us on a tour of Bronte country. Haworth is where the Brontë sisters spent much of their lives. The village, with its historic cobbled main street, offers tea rooms, craft and gift shops, restaurants and pubs while the Brontë’s former home, Haworth Parsonage, is now a museum (entry not included). In the afternoon we travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire Village and explore this model industrial village built by Sir Titus Salt in the 19th century to house his employees at Salts Textile Mill. Local costumed characters lead a guided walk bringing the history of this remarkable village to life.
Day 5: After breakfast we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk where our door to door service will be waiting to take you home.
