This tour takes in many facets of Lancashire life as we explore the areas past and present, with a wide range of sights and scenery. We also include a visit to the new RHS Bridgewater, Lancaster & Salford Quays, all within comfortable reach from our 4-star hotel.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to the Marriott Hotel in Broughton for our four-night stay, making suitable stops en route.

Day 2: After breakfast we travel to Salford Quays, a unique waterfront destination in Greater Manchester. Here you can explore the Lowry building and Galleries, Imperial War Museum North and Media City (entry not included). Later we depart for RHS Bridgewater, a fabulous addition to the Royal Horticultural Society’s estate, rising from the former grounds of Worsley New Hall. Opened on the 18th May 2021, RHS Garden Bridgewater is the fifth RHS garden and one of the largest and most spectacular gardening projects undertaken in Europe in recent years.

Day 3: We spend the morning in historic Lancaster, one of England’s heritage cities. During our visit you may wish to visit Lancaster’s castle and museums to uncover the city’s ancient stories hidden in its walls and buildings. Alternatively, why not stroll the meandering towpaths of the canal or head along St George’s Quay, marvelling at the Georgian architecture which lines the banks of the River Lune. Later we travel to Barton Grange for a leisurely cruise with an included cream tea which is served as we gently glide along. This scenic cruise features attractive countryside scenery and views of the Bowland Hills, as well as the regular sightings of the canal’s resident birdlife such as the herons, ducks, swans, coots and swallows, plus the not so regular kingfishers and cormorants.

Day 4: After breakfast, we travel to Clitheroe, where we are joined by a knowledgeable guide for an informative and interesting tour of the Ribble Valley. Sit back and enjoy the scenic journey through some of Lancashire’s beautiful scenery, including lovely villages such as Dunsop Bridge and Newton.

Day 5: This morning we depart our hotel and make the journey back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival, our taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
