Enjoy a day at leisure in this attractive and historic city, noted for its many fine buildings and excellent shops. There will also be an opportunity to visit the university botanic gardens.

Cambridge

The city is well known for the University of Cambridge which is one of the most important and famous universities of England. In Cambridge you will be inspired by the many beautiful museums and art galleries and can admire the great architecture and majestic college buildings. There are quaint passages to explore, set around the historic market place and colleges, where a unique and relaxing shopping experience can be found.

Botanic Gardens

Situated close to the city centre, this tranquil 40 acre garden has a collection of over 8,000 labelled plant species in beautifully landscaped settings including Rock Garden, Lake and Glasshouses.

Since its opening in 1846, Cambridge University Botanic Garden (CUBG) has been an inspiration for gardeners, an exciting introduction to the natural world for families and an oasis for all our visitors. Supporting leading scientific research and welcoming 300,000 visitors a year, CUBG is one of the largest University-owned botanic gardens in the world. The Garden’s living plant collection of over 8,000 species is spread across 40 acres of landscaped gardens. The collection, which includes iconic, threatened and endangered trees and plants, supports University research which focusses on meeting many of the world’s greatest future challenges (such as food security, climate change and medicine). The Garden also inspires schools, the local community and visitors from around the world about the importance of plants and plant science, horticulture and the joy of gardening.

This heritage-listed Garden has been designed for both year-round interest and seasonal inspiration so, whenever you visit, you will find plants to intrigue and enchant.
