Where better to embark on a northern adventure than Northumberland? Bursting with history and stunning landscapes, there's so much to see and do here, and no visit is complete without exploring the Northumbrian Coast. Famed for its golden sands, quaint villages and impressive castles, including extraordinary Bamburgh, this stretch of coastline is known as ‘one of England’s best kept secrets’ and it's easy to see why.

Venture further inland and you’ll discover a wealth of must-see sights and attractions, including the iconic Alnwick Castle which has featured in many films and TV programmes. We also visit charming Holy Island? This pint-sized island is brimming with pubs and cafés, and there’s even a coastal castle for you to uncover!

This spectacular region is a must-visit!

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head north to Newcastle and our hotel for the next 4 nights. Tea /coffee will be served on arrival while our cases are delivered to our rooms.

Day 2: Today we are met by our guide who will treat us to a full day step-on discovery tour of Hadrian’s Wall. We discover the true history of the Wall during this fascinating journey along Rome’s most Northerly frontier. Our expert guide brings Roman heritage to life as we explore Corbridge, a former Roman village, see some of the most spectacular parts of Hadrian’s Wall and visit Roman Vindolanda to experience one of the best-preserved Roman forts and museums.

Day 3: Today we take the road north, past Blyth and Ashington to historic Alnwick. Here, we visit the magnificent Alnwick Castle. Dubbed the Windsor of the North, Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in the country and has been home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years. The Castle’s rich history is brimming with drama, intrigue and extraordinary people; from a gunpowder plotter and visionary collectors, to decadent hosts and medieval England’s most celebrated knight: Harry Hotspur. In recent years it has also taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as the magnificent Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey and previously appearing as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films. This afternoon we visit Alnwick Gardens, set within a secretive walled garden, its centrepiece the Grand Cascade, the largest water feature of its kind in the country. More than 120 separate water jets create spellbinding water displays. It is a garden for all seasons; the Tree House (one of the largest structures of its kind in the world) will provide an amazing selection of buildings linked together by suspended walkways in the sky. A place to eat, walk, rest and much more.

Day 4: This morning we make our way to Bamburgh where we have included a visit to the mighty castle. Bamburgh Castle has stood guard above the spectacular Northumberland coastline for over 1,400 years. Spanning nine acres of land on its rocky plateau, the Castle is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country. Whether it’s the thrill of seeing the coast open out beneath you, with sweeping views towards the Farne Islands, Holy Island and Bamburgh village from this extraordinary viewpoint, or its treasure filled staterooms, including the castle’s centrepiece – The King’s Hall, you will discover a fortress like no other at Bamburgh Castle. It remains the private, family seat of the Armstrong family to this day and has starred in countless films and small screen productions, from Transformers The Last Knight, to Netflix hit Frontier and of course, The Last Kingdom. After your visit we then continue along the Northumbrian coastline before crossing the causeway to Holy Island also known as Lindisfarne this tiny island is only 2 square miles but packs in a lot of religious significance dating back centuries. (this is governed by tide times, therefore is subject to change)

Day 5: Sadly this morning it’s time to bid farewell to our hotel and head back to Norfolk where our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
