Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head south to Sutton Scotney, where we find our hotel for the next 4 nights, the four star Norton Park hotel.
Day 2: This morning our first stop of the day is one of the World’s most famous landmarks, Stonehenge, an iconic, unforgettable prehistoric site. There have been monuments here for over 5,000 years and the unique stone circle was erected in around 2500 BC. Stonehenge’s visitor centre tells the tale behind the stones and the Neolithic huts give a glimpse into the lives of our ancient ancestors. This afternoon we continue to Salisbury. The city has an abundance of historic buildings to explore. At Salisbury Cathedral you will find the best preserved of the four original Magna Carta manuscripts dating from 1215AD. Nearby, the famous Cathedral Close houses attractions like Arundells, Mompesson House, The Rifles Military Museum and Salisbury Museum. Elsewhere in the city, some of England’s finest historic houses and heritage buildings are brought to life with arts, culture, events and entertainment. (attractions subject to individual choice and payment)
Day 3: This morning we travel to Portsmouth, home of the historic dockyard, where we spend the day. We have included the full navy ticket for entrance to all eleven attractions. HMS Victory is the Royal Navy's most famous warship, best known for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar. The Victory currently has a dual role as the Flagship of the First Sea Lord and as a living museum to the Georgian Navy. The visitor experience onboard HMS Victory at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as Nelson’s famous flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar is now brought alive with a hand-held audio guide. We also include entry to the Mary Rose Exhibition which also is situated in the Historic Docks. Here you can find out more about King Henry VIII’s famous warship, its crew and see a wonderful collection of artefacts recovered from the wreck. The Mary Rose was the flagship of Henry VIII that served in his fleet for 34 years before sinking during the Battle of the Solent in 1545, with the king watching from nearby Southsea Castle. Her remains were raised in 1982, and are now on display along with thousands of the original objects recovered alongside the ship, giving a unique and moving insight into life in Tudor England. She is the only ship of her kind on display anywhere in the world.
Day 4: This morning we make the short journey to Winchester, Hampshire’s capital and the former capital of England, where we have some free time. With its bustling shopping streets, Winchester is best known for its eleventh century Cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 700 years has housed the mysterious King Arthur’s Round Table. After lunch we continue to the market town of Romsey. Home of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten and the Broadlands estate. You can also find Romsey abbey, a 12th-century abbey built in the Norman style, probably by Henry of Blois, upon an earlier Saxon church dating back to the 10th century. Elements of the old Saxon church remain, including an exposed north transept and a 10th-century rood. The current abbey is the largest parish church in Hampshire and is generally regarded as cathedral-like by architects and observers. (attractions subject to individual choice and payment)
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk, making suitable stops along the way. Upon our arrival we re-join our door to door taxi service who will be waiting to take you home.
