Day 1: Following your home taxi pickup we travel north to our hotel in Scarborough for our 5-night stay at the Park Manor Hotel on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Today we head to Thirsk; a small market town and home to author James Herriot. Whilst here we have included entrance to the world of James Herriot. The visit will take you on a nostalgic journey through the former home and veterinary surgery where the world’s most famous vet lived, practised and wrote his bestselling books ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ that went on to become a hit TV Series. There will be free time to visit the town before we head back to our hotel with a stop in the market town of Pickering.
Day 3: Our excursion takes us over the moors to Whitby. This charming little fishing town has a fascinating past where you can admire the ruins of St Hilda's Abbey and uncover the stories of the famous Captain Cook and Dracula. After lunch, we then return over the moors to Goathland. This bracing moorland village has attracted visitors since the 19th century, but numbers soared following its appearance (as 'Aidensfield') in the television series 'Heartbeat' and its role in the 'Harry Potter' films
Day 4: Day at leisure. Scarborough is Britain’s oldest seaside resort and is the perfect haven to unwind. Set in an area of unsurpassed natural beauty, it has two golden sandy beaches, a bustling harbour, an ancient castle and stunning cliff-top views. Beautiful Victorian architecture is dotted throughout and its charming Old Town has fantastic eateries, boutiques, independent shops and amusements. Be sure to stroll along the colourful seafront and soak up the relaxing atmosphere.
Day 5: This morning we visit the resort of Filey. This traditional seaside resort, with its sandy beach, historic promenade, fantastic fish and chips, and gentle pace of life, is the perfect place to visit for a relaxing morning. Later we make the short journey to the Scarborough Fair Collection. This wondeful museum is now one of the largest indoor attractions in the Scarborough area and is looked after by a small team of staff and volunteers who operate the vintage fairground rides, which include the Golden Gallopers, Thriller, Cake Walk, Ghost Train and the Caterpillar. The vintage transport part of the museum is a large collection of cycles, motorcycles, cars, commercial vehicles and steam traction engines, with exhibits dating from the late 19th century through to the 1980s. Just a few of the vehicles on display in the museum are the ‘Iron Maiden’ showman’s engine from the 1960s film of the same name, a 1916 Albion WW1 army wagon, a 1915 Napier double decker bus and much more. There is something in the museum for every generation to say “my dad or grandad had one of them”.
Day 6: After breakfast, we make our way to Beverley, with landmarks that include the gothic Beverley Minster and the 15th-century North Bar before returning to Norfolk, where our door to door taxi service awaits to return you home.
