Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to Warwickshire, arriving late afternoon at the Chesford Grange hotel for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we discover a wealth of treasures in the charming historic town of Warwick. Warwickshire’s county town is world famous for its magnificent castle and historic charm. There are many places to visit and buildings of outstanding quality from every period of the last 1100 years. Why not visit the magnificent Warwick Castle, gaze at the ancient artefacts in St Mary’s Church or take a leisurely stroll by the River Avon (attractions subject to individual choice and payment). Later we continue to the fashionable and elegant town of Royal Leamington Spa, home to the Royal Pump Rooms and the Grade II listed Jephson Gardens.
Day 3: This morning we make our way to Kenilworth Castle and its Elizabethan Gardens. Kenilworth is one of England’s most spectacular castles. Once standing at the heart of a vast hunting ground and surrounded by a huge man-made lake, it represented a rich prize to the generations of great men who owned and embellished it – among them John of Gaunt, Henry V and Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. The castle’s fortifications were dismantled in 1650, and the ruins later became famous thanks in part to Walter Scott’s 1821 romance Kenilworth. Today you can explore the mighty medieval keep, climb up Tudor towers, wander through a unique Elizabethan Garden and get hands on with history in the exhibition. After our visit there will be time to explore the historic town of Kenilworth itself. This afternoon we continue to the ancient market town of Henley-in-Arden, one of the prettiest towns in England: a mile-long High Street of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture including 150 historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Visiting Henley is like diving into an Enid Blyton novel.
Day 4: Today we experience the sights and ambience of Stratford-Upon-Avon, a town synonymous with William Shakespeare. There will be time to walk in Shakespeare’s footsteps at the house where he was born and grew up, or head off on the self-guided heritage trail, his influence is everywhere! There are also cafes, shops and riverside gardens to enjoy. This afternoon, we board the ‘Countess of Evesham’ for an included gentle relaxing cruise and cream tea on the River Avon.
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk, where we will find our door to door taxi service waiting to take you home.
