Day 1: From your local joining point, we join our luxury tour coach and head to Coventry. A city like no other, Coventry is home to a wealth of things to do and discover. From the unexpected with centuries-old history and heritage, to breath-taking architecture and impressive innovation. We then make our way to Shropshire, arriving late afternoon at the Mercure Telford Hotel for our 2 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis. Tea/Coffee & biscuits will be served on arrival.
Day 2: This morning we visit the impressive Ironbridge Gorge, where the world’s first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. Ironbridge Gorge is known throughout the world as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Nature has reclaimed most of the former industrial sites, leaving a unique and beautiful wooded valley. The gorge is a now a maze of footpaths, bridleways and country lanes. The former homes of the Victorian Iron Masters and their workers can still be found in the communities around the Gorge. After a break in Ironbridge village, we make our way to Blists Hill Victorian town. This 52-acre site is a bustling recreation of a Victorian town. See curious products in the Chemist, Grocers and Drapers, discover what life was like for a housewife in the cottages, enjoy a drink in the New Inn, a portion of delicious fish and chips, or a bag of old-fashioned sweets. The streets of the town will be lit by heritage lamps, filled with the fragrance of festive food and festooned with traditional decorations.
Day 3: After breakfast we make for the Shropshire Hills for a picturesque ride through the countryside, passing through Little Stretton and past the beautiful Stokesay Castle, arriving at the Chesford Grange hotel where we will enjoy a cream tea. Afterwards, we begin our journey home, making suitable stops enroute.
