Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, we join our luxury tour coach and make our way to our overnight hotel, the Tinto Hotel, making suitable stops en-route.
Day 2: This morning we continue our journey north, crossing the border into Scotland. From here we make our way to Luss. This picture-postcard village is located on the western shore of Loch Lomond and has a rich history dating back to medieval times. Head to the end of the pier to enjoy the spectacular view of Ben Lomond or choose from a range of short walking trails which explore the village. We later re-join our coach and make our way along the western banks of Loch Lomond. The loch lies on the Highland Boundary Fault, a major fault zone in the earth’s crust, which separates two very different types of terrain in Scotland. The Highlands to the north and the Lowlands to the south. We reach our main hotel early evening, the Best Western Crianlarich Hotel, which will be our base for the next 4 nights.
Day 3: Today we join the Scotrail train at Crianlarich station for a scenic journey through the Pass of Brander to Oban – the capital of the West Coast, and Scotland’s favourite West Highland retreat. You’ll have time to wander down winding streets overlooking the picturesque bay, or perhaps take a walk up to McCaig’s Tower, to enjoy spectacular views across Oban Bay. Later, we re-join our train for the journey back to Crianlarich. (it is a 10-minute stroll to Crianlarich station from the hotel).
Day 4: This morning we head along Glen Dochart to Killin, a small village at the Falls of Dochart, a spectacular series of rapids, at the western end of Loch Tay. From here we drive along Loch Tay, passing through Aberfeldy, and stopping in Pitlochry. The town is famous for its Scottish hospitality, fascinating clan heritage, historic distilleries and quaint tearooms, all set against a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills and picturesque woodland.
This afternoon we head south along the Sma’ Glen to Crieff. Here we visit the Glenturret Distillery, makers of the Famous Grouse, and enjoy a tour. The tour will take you through the traditional art of making the Glenturret single malt whisky using hand-operated, time-honoured methods. The distillery host will also bring to life the history and heritage of one of Scotland's most iconic whisky brands. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a Glenturret tasting from the exceptional distillery whisky range.
Our return journey takes us along Loch Earn and Glen Ogle to Crianlarich.
Day 5: Today we discover one of the hidden wonders of the Highlands. A power station buried deep under Ben Cruachan – the hollow mountain. At its centre lies a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of London. The hollow mountain is an underground world on a spectacular scale, and not to be missed. From here we head north to Fort William. This bustling resort is set in a beautiful location, at the foot of Ben Nevis, overlooking tranquil Loch Linnhe. From dramatic hills to iconic films locations, castles and distilleries, there are plenty of things to do in Fort William. Take your time and explore the natural wonders of Lochaber, breathe the fresh mountain air and marvel at some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. We have time to explore this popular town before we make our way south alongside Loch Linnhe to Ballachulish and Loch Leven, via Glencoe. No description can re-create the impact of seeing Glencoe for the first time. It has long been one of the most loved places in Scotland, and what is Glencoe famous for? It’s known equally for its awe-inspiring views and sorrowful past – it is a place of history, wildlife, adventure and myth. The mountains were formed through violent volcanic eruptions, and then sculpted by massive glaciers. We will make a brief stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre before we return over rugged and awesome Rannoch Moor to Crianlarich.
Day 6: Today we leave Crianlarich and head south, passing Stirling, home to one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, enroute to Glasgow. Here, we will have some free time for you to explore the city. The lively and modern city of Glasgow is the largest in Scotland and is home to a wealth of museums, with something to suit everyone’s tastes, and best of all, very few actually charge entrance fees. It also has some of the best shopping outside of London. Take time to enjoy the city’s impressive architecture including Glasgow Tower and The Science Centre. From here we head to our overnight hotel, the Tinto Hotel.
Day 7: This morning we continue our journey back to Norfolk making suitable stops on the way. Upon arrival our taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
