Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our platinum executive tour coach and make our way to Kent for our crossing to France. We then continue our journey through Belgium and Germany until we arrive at the Hotel Deutschherrenhof Hotel for our 5 night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we head to the pretty riverside town of Cochem, from where we embark on a 1 hour circular cruise along the Moselle River, enjoying views of Reichsburg Castle and the surrounding vineyards. We spend the rest of the day in Cochem at leisure, giving us time to explore the Old Town, made up of quaint squares, winding alleys, half-timbered buildings and imposing town gates, watched over by its magnificent 11th century Reichsburg Castle, a Gothic masterpiece perched on a rocky outcrop from where there are fantastic views (entry not included). We return to our hotel via a scenic driving route along the banks of the mighty Moselle.
Day 3: Today we head to the city of Trier. We spend the morning exploring this fascinating city and its treasure trove of well-preserved Roman structures, including the spectacular Roman city gate – Porta Nigra, the grand Saint Peter’s Cathedral, and Aula Palatina, a Roman palace basilica. In the afternoon we visit the Bernard-Massard winery, the leading family producer of still and sparkling wines in Luxembourg, with a whopping 3.5 million bottles leaving its cellars every year. During our visit we enjoy a tasting of two of the fantastic wines.
Day 4: Today is a day at leisure for you to explore.
Day 5: This morning, we head to the ‘wine town’ of Rüdesheim. At the heart of the old town is Drosselgasse, a 144m (472ft) cobbled street lined with timber-framed buildings. It might be olde worlde in architecture, but, here, you’ll find some of the best entertainment venues in the city, from live music in taverns to restaurants serving regional dishes. En-route we make a quick stop at the Loreley rock viewpoint (subject to weather conditions). If you want to take in a panorama over the valley without tackling any hills on foot, the Seilbahn Rüdesheim is the way to go. The cable car whisks you from the town centre up to the Niederwald Monument (and to the red-wine town of Assmanshausen), with an impressive panorama over the vineyards and the shimmering waters of the Rhine River. (cable car subject to individual choice and payment)
Day 6: Sadly we say ‘auf weidersein’ to our hotel and begin our journey back to Calais for our crossing to the UK. We then continue to Norfolk where our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
