A glorious mix of tumbling moors and old market towns, sleepy Somerset is rural England at its best. Beautiful Bath has inspired many literary residents and welcomed many renowned visitors drawn here by the medicinal hot springs. From our hotel, we delve into Somerset’s glorious heritage, with a day in Bath itself, and excursions to Glastonbury and the tiny, charming city of Wells.

Day 1: Joining the coach from a convenient local joining point, we head to Stratford Upon Avon for a visit enroute to our hotel. As the birthplace of William Shakespeare, the town bursts with Shakespearen attractions, from his birthplace to his grave, which can be found in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church. Alternatively, you could enjoy a pleasant stroll along the banks of the River Avon, visit the shops in the town centre or relax in one of the tea rooms and watch the world go by! We will later continue to the Wessex Hotel in Street, Somerset for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.

Day 2: We spend the day in Bath. It is the only city in the UK to be named a World Heritage Site. Renowned for its stunning architecture, this wonderful city has something to see at every turn. Marvel at the stunning Bath Abbey, the last of the great medieval churches of England, with unrivalled views of the city, or be intrigued by the Circus, a masterpiece by John Wood, forming the shape of a key when viewed from the air. The Pump Room is well worth a visit, and there are several museums, including the world’s largest costume museum. Whilst here we have also included a guided tour around the city onboard the coach.

Day 3: We pay a short visit to Glastonbury, the birthplace of English Christianity and the supposed burial place of King Arthur. We then head to medieval Wells with the opportunity to obtain lunch. England’s smallest city, Wells, sits peacefully surrounded by thousands of years of history and legend. The magnificent Wells Cathedral is the focal point, along with the unique moated Bishop’s Palace, from which the finely preserved medieval centre wanders away into attractive lanes with many wonderful independent shops. This afternoon we head back to the hotel with free time to visit the nearby tourist attraction – Clark’s Shopping Village.

Day 4: This morning we visit Weston-Super-Mare. Enjoy its host of fabulous attractions including the magnificent Grand Pier or why not hire a deck chair on the award winning beach, treat yourself to a delicious ice cream and relax with the famous Weston donkeys or simply enjoy the beautiful natural parklands, quality restaurants, cafes, bars and lovely tea rooms? This afternoon we visit Cheddar Gorge. Lying at the heart of the Mendip Hills. Its naturally rugged high sides, and flat cliff tops make it deservedly an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Day 5: We depart for the return to Norfolk and your local joining points.
