Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will head north to Lancashire and our hotel for the next 4 nights, the 4 star Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we begin with a drive to the pleasant North Yorkshire market town of Settle where we enjoy free time, followed by a ride on the Settle and Carlisle Railway. Considered to be one of England’s most scenic rail journeys, we will join the diesel train for the journey, passing through spectacular scenery, crossing the famous Ribblehead viaduct and stopping at Kirkby Stephen.
We then rejoin the coach for the short journey into Hawes. After a break and chance to obtain lunch we continue our journey through the Yorkshire Dales, making a short photo stop at the Ribble head Viaduct before our return to the hotel.
Day 3: This morning, we head to Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales. With its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty. Take a stroll around the town and explore some of the interesting alleyways and shops. Whilst here, we also enjoy a cruise on one of the country’s best known inland waterways. This one-hour canal cruise will take you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton. As you sail down the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, you will hear anecdotes and fascinating stories relating to the region. You'll discover how important the canal was for Yorkshire throughout the Industrial Revolution.
We then continue into the Yorkshire Dales for a stop in Grassington, one of Yorkshire’s prettiest villages. Picture a bustling cobbled market square, fringed by shops offering local foods, speciality gifts and arts and crafts. Add other attractions such as friendly cafés, restaurants and cosy hotels, all set against a backdrop of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and that’s Grassington. A small market town that feels like a village, and the perfect location from which to enjoy the many things to do in the area.
Day 4: This morning we have a full day guided tour of Pendle Hill Country, hearing about the infamous witches. Downham was the setting for the 1961 film Whistle Down the Wind and TV’s Born and Bred. We call at Barrowford Visitor Centre for a break before heading over Pendle Hills on our way to Clitheroe for a lunch break. The day continues with a drive through the Britain in Bloom village of Chipping and on into the Hodder Valley with a break at the riverside tearooms in Slaidburn before heading back to the hotel.
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk, making suitable stops along the way. Upon our arrival we re-join our door to door taxi service who will be waiting to take you home.
