Being England's only island city and a fascinating centre for maritime history, you cannot fail to be amazed on a visit to Portsmouth especially its Historic Dockyard which is just bursting with tales to tell of times gone by. Portsmouth Harbour Tours are the best way to explore the Dockyard as you come up close to Lord Nelson's famous warship the HMS Victory

Another highlight of your tour to Portsmouth is a visit to the Mary Rose Museum. Here you can find out more about King Henry VIII's famous warship, its crew and see a wonderful collection of artefacts recovered from the wreck site after the Mary Rose sank in 1545.

A highlight of the tour will be a visit to the Weald & Downland living museum. On the site there is a heritage blacksmith, craft demonstrations, a Tudor kitchen, a mill and traditional working farm. You may also recognise it as the venue of the BBC’s Repair Shop. With over 50 historic buildings & period gardens, the museum truly allows you to immerse yourself in the past and experience over 1000 years of history.

Day 1: Following your home taxi service you will join our luxury tour coach as we journey south to Hampshire and our hotel for the next 4 nights, the four star Langstone Quays Hotel, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: This morning we make the short journey to the historic dockyard where we spend the day. We have included the full navy ticket for entrance to all eleven attractions. HMS Victory is the Royal Navy's most famous warship, best known for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar. The Victory currently has a dual role as the Flagship of the First Sea Lord and as a living museum to the Georgian Navy. The visitor experience onboard HMS Victory at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as Nelson’s famous flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar is now brought alive with a hand-held audio guide. We also include entry to the Mary Rose Exhibition which also is situated in the Historic Docks. Here you can find out more about King Henry VIII’s famous warship, its crew and see a wonderful collection of artefacts recovered from the wreck. The Mary Rose was the flagship of Henry VIII that served in his fleet for 34 years before sinking during the Battle of the Solent in 1545, with the king watching from nearby Southsea Castle. Her remains were raised in 1982, and are now on display along with thousands of the original objects recovered alongside the ship, giving a unique and moving insight into life in Tudor England. She is the only ship of her kind on display anywhere in the world.

Day 3: Today is a day of leisure in Southsea. Whilst here you could visit the D Day museum, the Blue Reef aquarium or take a 7 minute hovercraft ride to the IOW. (attractions today subject to individual choice and payment)

Day 4: This morning we journey into the South Downs National Park, where we visit the Weald & Downland living museum. This afternoon we continue to Arundel where we meet a local tour guide who will give us a walking tour of this beautiful old town. Following our tour you will have time at leisure to explore. Charming, stylish and full of history, the picturesque market town of Arundel is probably most famous for two stunning landmarks - Arundel Castle and Arundel Cathedral. Arundel Castle is a stately home and fortified castle that towers over the town offering great views of the Sussex countryside. There's also a calendar of events throughout the year offering something different for every visit. The Cathedral was originally the Church of St. Philip Neri and only renamed in 1965 leaving Arundel as one of the only cathedral destinations not classified as a city. (attractions in Arundel subject to individual choice and payment). Alternatively, you may wish to shop at independent boutiques, antique markets and art galleries or eat out overlooking the River Arun in one of Arundel’s pretty waterside pubs, cafés and restaurants.

Day 5: Sadly we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk, where we find our Door to Door taxi service awaiting to return us to our homes.
