Day 1: Following your collection from one of our convenient local joining points, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will make our way to Alnwick, making suitable stops enroute.
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, the day is free to explore the traditional market town of Alnwick. Visiting Alnwick, pronounced to sound like ‘anick’, is like stepping into a fairytale, where you can dine in the twinkling treetops of one of the world’s largest treehouses, marvel at the beauty of Alnwick Castle, and visit a sleeping Giant at The Alnwick Garden. Don't miss Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery, which holds over 10,000 years of history in its charming stone walls. Based in Alnwick's Castle Quarter, it was previously a church, meaning you can admire its beautiful architecture while you discover artefacts, photographs and audio visual displays that showcase fascinating stories through time.
Just a short walk through Alnwick’s winding cobbled streets and past the archway of Bondgate Tower, the only remaining chunk of the town walls, will take you to Barter Books. Settle into an armchair by the open fire and grab yourself a coffee as you immerse yourself in the literary world while toy trains chug above you. (attractions in Alnwick subject to individual choice and payment)
Our New Year’s Eve evening begins with pre-dinner fizz and canapes, followed by a New Year’s Eve gala dinner. There will be live entertainment in the form of a pianist and a DJ, providing plenty of opportunities for you to dance the night away. We see in the New Year with a piper and singing of the traditional chorus, Auld Lang Syne.
Day 3: After a leisurely breakfast, we journey along the Northumberland coast making our first stop in the pretty harbour of Seahouses. This colourful fishing village has a bustling harbour, a number of shops, and some of the best fish and chips in Northumberland. As well as the wonderful wildlife and coastline, Seahouses is known for its history surrounding iconic Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) figure Grace Darling. She and her father took a rowing boat out to sea from Seahouses and managed to save many people after the Forfarshire fishing boat crashed into rocks. An RNLI lifeboat at Seahouses bears the name Grace Darling in her honour.
After enjoying some free time here we continue along the coast to Bamburgh. The town is dominated by its famous castle that has enjoyed over 1,400 years of rich history and was built as the capital of the Kingdom of Northumbria.
Day 4: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk and our local joining points
