Day 1: Following your home taxi pickup we travel north to our hotel in Scarborough for our 5-night stay at the Park Manor Hotel on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Our excursion takes us over the moors to Whitby. This charming little fishing town has a fascinating past where you can admire the ruins of St Hilda's Abbey and uncover the stories of the famous Captain Cook and Dracula. After lunch, we then return over the moors to Goathland. This bracing moorland village has attracted visitors since the 19th century, but numbers soared following its appearance (as 'Aidensfield') in the television series 'Heartbeat' and its role in the 'Harry Potter' films
Day 3: Day at leisure. Scarborough is Britain’s oldest seaside resort and is the perfect haven to unwind. Set in an area of unsurpassed natural beauty, it has two golden sandy beaches, a bustling harbour, an ancient castle and stunning cliff-top views. Beautiful Victorian architecture is dotted throughout and its charming Old Town has fantastic eateries, boutiques, independent shops and amusements. Be sure to stroll along the colourful seafront and soak up the relaxing atmosphere.
Day 4: Our excursion this morning takes us to Sledmere House Gardens. The garden at Sledmere is gaining increasing prominence for its dynamic and innovative development programme. So much so, BBC Gardeners World recently paid a visit to film their beautiful Walled gardens. The walled garden was designed to maintain it’s formal and traditional style in keeping with it’s history but giving it a contemporary twist.
This afternoon we make the short journey to Castle Howard Gardens, The house itself stands within 1000 acres of parkland and formal gardens, where peacocks roam. To the north, the ground falls away to a large lake, and to the south, formal gardens share space with more water features and several glorious follies. As one of Britain's grandest estates, it has featured on screen and is well known as the filming location of Brideshead Revisited and more recently Bridgerton.
Day 5: Today we head to historic York, where upon our arrival we join a sightseeing river boat for a 45 minute cruise including commentary. After our cruise, there will be plenty of free time to visit the many attractions that York has to offer. Founded by the Romans and featuring the magnificent 13th century York Minster at its centrepiece, the city features some breath-taking architecture! With quaint cobbled streets and welcoming taverns alongside its vibrant café scene, York offers the perfect contrast of old and new.
Day 6: After breakfast we head to historic Lincoln for free time before returning to Norfolk, where our door to door service awaits to return you home.
