Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, you will join our luxury tour coach and head north to Leeds and our hotel for the next 4 nights, The Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we head along the Aire Valley to Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales. With its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty. Take a stroll around the town and explore some of the interesting alleyways and shops.
Whilst here, we also enjoy a cruise on one of the country’s best known inland waterways. This one-hour canal cruise will take you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton. As you sail down the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, you will hear anecdotes and fascinating stories relating to the region. You'll also discover how important the canal was for Yorkshire throughout the Industrial Revolution
Day 3: This morning we enjoy a trip on the Wensleydale Railway. The starting point of the railway has traditionally been Leeming Bar with visitors travelling up to Redmire on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing through the Georgian market town of Bedale and the Dales market town of Leyburn, with constantly changing scenery, from the arable lands of the Vale of Mowbray in the East, to the hills of the Yorkshire Dales in the West. There will be free time in Leyburn before we continue our day to Hawes. Home to the world famous Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese and set amidst breath-taking scenery it’s no surprise Hawes is one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The name Hawes means a ‘pass between mountains’ and it stands between the stunning Buttertubs and Fleet Moss. You can also discover the 18th Century water-powered cotton spinning Gayle Mill. (attractions subject to individual choice and payment)
This afternoon we continue our journey through the Dales, stopping at the Ribblehead viaduct for a quick photo stop before finishing our day in the town of Settle.
Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast we head to Grassington. Picture a bustling cobbled market square, fringed by shops offering local foods, speciality gifts and arts and crafts. Add other attractions such as friendly cafés, restaurants and cosy hotels, all set against a backdrop of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and that’s Grassington. A small market town that feels like a village, and the perfect location from which to enjoy the many things to do in the area.
Later we make our way across the Dales as we head to Harrogate, with its huge open spaces, broad tree-lined boulevards, antique shops and elegant buildings, there is plenty to see and do. A must visit is the world-famous Betty’s Tearooms. The iconic 19th century Pump Room, originally built to welcome Victorian visitors is also worth a visit and is now home to a fascinating museum of the town’s fashionable Spa history, together with the nearby Mercer Gallery which has an important collection of artwork spanning the centuries right up to present-day. Day 5: Sadly, this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
