Day 1: Following your home taxi collection, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will make our way to the West Midlands and our hotel for the next 4 nights, the 4 star Mercure Birmingham West Hotel & Spa, on a dinner bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we head north to visit the Coalport China Museum. The museum is located in the magnificent listed buildings that were home to the factory until 1926. You will discover the place that created some of the world’s finest china and sent it around the globe to grace the tables of queens, tsars and princes. See exquisite pieces in the original factory and beautiful examples of Coalport and Caughley china, including the largest piece of Coalport china ever made. Watch daily demonstrations of sagger-making and pottery painting, talk to skilled craftspeople and step inside a bottle kiln.
From here we make our way to visit the Aerospace Museum at RAF Cosford. This excellent exhibition has 70 aircraft dating back to wartime, memorabilia from over the years, and the National Cold War exhibition gives an insight into life behind the Iron Curtain.
Day 3: Our first stop of the day is the delightful city of Worcester. At its centre is a magnificent cathedral, perched along the riverbank, dominating the skyline for miles around. The cathedral is one of the loveliest in England and dates back to Norman times. The early 12th century Chapter House, St. Wulfstan's Crypt and the mediaeval cloisters are among the most remarkable in the country, and King John's tomb in the Cathedral dates from 1216. Although possessing all the sophistication and amenities of a city, Worcester with its attractive jumble of medieval, Tudor, Georgian, and modern architecture has the feel of a small town and is easy to explore and get around.
This afternoon we have a drive along the delightful Severn Valley. In Bewdley, we visit the West Midlands Safari Park and enjoy coffee/tea and cakes before a Safari Drive with your knowledgeable park guide.
Day 4: Our excursion today takes us to Kidderminster and join the Severn Valley Railway for a ride along the valley to Bridgnorth, passing through delightfully restored stations on the way.
From here we head for the Black Country Museum in time for lunch. Covering 26 acres of former industrial land, the Black Country Living Museum is uniquely placed to tell the story of the creation of the world’s first industrial landscape. Over fifty authentic shops, houses and workshops have been carefully reconstructed to preserve the character of the region when its manufacturers bought worldwide fame to Black Country Towns. Take a trip on the tram to explore the canal-side village, where you can meet and chat to the costumed characters. Explore the underground mine and experience the authentic sights, sounds, smells and tastes from the past. If you’re a fan of ‘Peaky Blinders’, you may recognise the museum as many scenes were filmed here!
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and make our way back to Norfolk making suitable stops enroute. Upon arrival, our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
