Day 1: Joining the coach from one of our convenient local joining points, we start the journey southwest to Devon, arriving at our hotel late afternoon for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 2: We make our way across the South Hams to the historic maritime town of Dartmouth. This delightful town has narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses and old quays, as well as breath-taking views across the Dart Estuary. On our return to Torquay, we will make a brief stop in the ancient town of Totnes. A quaint, historic little market town, this area truly is a sight to behold. You can find everything here, from stunning countryside, to fascinating historical buildings and amazing views.
Day 3: Day at leisure to explore Torquay and enjoy the hotel facilities. With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, international marina, sandy beach and wonderful array of continental style cafes, restaurants and cocktail bars there is plenty to see and do.
Day 4: This morning we travel into the Teign Valley to Dawlish. a quaint and friendly resort that was once a tiny fishing village until the Victorian Railway Age turned it into a thriving seaside town. It nestles between striking red sandstone cliffs overlooking a sandy beach, with the railway still running right alongside the seafront. We then make our way to Teignmouth, a handsome estuary town which has the benefits of a bustling harbour as well as the classic attractions of a seaside resort. It boasts an elegant Georgian crescent, promenade and Victorian pier with fine views across the bay.
We then cross the River Teign at Shaldon to follow the coastline to Kents Cavern, one of the most important Stone Age sites in Europe and one of Britain's best showcaves! On your visit you'll go back to a time when the cave was home to ancient humans, sheltering from extreme weather, making fires, shaping tools and hunting Ice Age animals. As you walk through the extensive labyrinth of caverns, you'll be surrounded by 400 million year old rocks and spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. On our arrival we have a one hour guided tour of the caves followed by a cream tea, before retuning to our hotel.
Day 5: We depart for the return to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival we will drop you at your chosen local joining point.
