Day 1: You will be picked up from home by our door-to-door service and taken to the coach for the journey southwest to Devon, arriving at our hotel late afternoon for 6 nights dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 2: We make our way across the South Hams to the historic maritime town of Dartmouth. This delightful town has narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses and old quays, as well as breath-taking views across the Dart Estuary. On our return to Torquay, we will make a brief stop in the ancient town of Totnes. A quaint, historic little market town, this area truly is a sight to behold. You can find everything here, from stunning countryside, to fascinating historical buildings and amazing views.
Day 3: Our day begins with a drive to Plymouth where we enjoy a cruise from the historic Barbican. We sail across the Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon and Cornish coasts, passing Plymouth Hoe and the famous Drakes Island. We then head for the River Tamar and pull into one of the largest Naval Dockyards in Western Europe – where mighty warships and nuclear submarines await. The skipper provides commentary throughout. After our cruise, there will be time to explore this vibrant waterfront city before the journey back across Dartmoor to our hotel.
Day 4: Day at leisure to explore and relax. Be sure to stroll around Torquay’s picturesque harbour, or maybe take a boat trip to enjoy the view from a different perspective. (fare not included) Torquay’s many landscaped gardens and scenic walks are the perfect way to spend your time here.
Day 5: This morning we travel into the Teign Valley to Dawlish. This delightful town is centred around The Lawn and Brook, which is home to the famous black swans. After some time here to explore we make the short journey to the resort of Teignmouth, a stunning coastal town with historical Georgian buildings and long sandy beaches. We cross the River Teign at Shaldon to follow the coastline to the Bygones Museum at Babbacombe. Here, we step back in time to a full sized, Victorian street, complete with authentic sights, smells and sound effects from the era. (Based in an old quirky building, Bygones is set over three floors., there are no lifts and a few steps to negotiate between floors)
Day 6: After breakfast, we travel to historic Brixham, a maritime treasure with a busy fishing port. Here you can wander the maze of narrow streets or visit one of the many cafes around the harbour and watch the world go by.
We then make the short journey to Paignton, a colourful, traditional seaside resort popular for its mild climate and lively seafront. The bustling pier, genteel buildings and streets and sense of class and style make this an English Riviera favourite for generations of visitors.
Day 7: After breakfast, we depart Torquay for our return journey back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door service will be waiting to take you home.
