Fall in love with Chester, Cheshire & the Wirral Peninsula with its history, heritage, wonderful gardens and uplifting attractions!

Chester sparkles with a magical heritage and is the perfect place for a revitalising break at any time. The city is awash with history with many of its buildings carefully restored to retain their historical heritage. The city boasts a complete circuit of walls, sections of which date back to Roman times, as well as a Norman Cathedral. The famous Rows, unique two-tiered galleries built in the traditional black and white 'magpie' style, contain a wide range of shops selling goods from antiques to high fashion. In fact the city is one of the top retail centers in the UK.

Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to Chester, arriving late afternoon at the The Queens hotel for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.

Day 2: Today we make the short journey to Chester. We start the day with a cruise on the picturesque River Dee before having the rest of the day to explore at leisure. This tranquil half hour cruise is a perfect introduction to the City. You will be taken upstream, under the suspension bridge, past Grosvenor Park and the Earl’s Eye, then you’ll follow the long sweep of the Meadows to the city limits before returning to The Groves. Look out for the local wildlife too, including swans, cormorants and kingfishers.

A short stroll from the Groves takes you into the majestic city. Whilst here, take a step back in time and walk down the cobbled streets to discover the famous 700 year old black and white ‘rows’. Chester also has the most complete city walls and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings.

Day 3: This morning we visit the medieval market town of Nantwich.  Nantwich is a charming historical market town, set beside the River Weaver, with a rich history, a wealth of beautiful timber framed buildings, a quaint town square with memorial tribute, a wide range of specialty shops and one of the finest medieval town churches in Britain, St Mary’s.

After free time to explore we make the short journey to the Anderton Boat lift. This Victorian masterpiece is one of the seven wonders of the of waterways. Originally built in 1875, the structure lifts passengers aboard the elegant Edwin Clark boat from the River Weaver to the Trent and Mersey Canal high above. A comprehensive visitor centre houses an exhibition focusing on the lift’s history together with its control centre, so visitors can get close to the action.

Day 4: This morning we head  to the historic and idyllic garden village of Port Sunlight, which was built in the late 19th century by Lord Lever as a home for his soap factory workers. Today, it is home to a museum, parks and a world-class art gallery, all off which you will have time to discover. Whilst here we also include a circular guided coach tour giving you an insight into life as a 'Sunlighter'.

Our next stop is the traditional resort of New Brighton, which was created by a Liverpool merchant, before continuing to the wonderful Ness Botanic Gardens.

with over 64 acres of stunning gardens to explore. Founded in 1898 by Arthur Kilpin Bulley, a cotton merchant with a passion for gardens and plant collecting. Not only are these gardens beautiful, but they also contain one of the most interesting plant collections in the country, with many rare treasures. Azaleas, rhododendrons, a rock garden, laburnum arch, wildflower meadows and herbaceous borders, plus National Collections of sorbus and birches, provide year-round interest.

Day 5: Sadly, this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk making suitable stops en route. Upon arrival our door to door taxi service will be waiting to take you home.
