Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we join our luxury tour coach and head to Shropshire and our hotel for the next 4 nights, the four star Albrighton Hall Hotel, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we make our way to the historic town of Shrewsbury, one of England’s finest medieval market towns. On arrival we will sit back and relax on a 40 minute cruise along the River Severn, with tea/coffee and biscuits served during the cruise. The remainder of the day will be yours at leisure to explore. River cruises on the river Severn are a spectacle to behold. Not only can you take in the glories of what nature has to offer but also it will take you on a journey through time. On the cruise you will see and hear how important the Severn has been in sculpting the town. From the first settlements where the river provided natural defences to the development of merchant trading which fuelled the towns’ growth. During the cruise the captain will entertain you with stories of the town, past and present.
Shrewsbury was the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is home to a Norman castle, an Abbey and The Quarry, which at its heart lies The Dingle, a floral masterpiece designed by the famous gardener Percy Thrower. There are over 600 listed buildings, and the black & white timber buildings and picturesque cobbled alleyways house a selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants & pubs
Day 3: This morning we visit the impressive Ironbridge Gorge, where the world’s first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. Ironbridge Gorge is known throughout the world as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Nature has reclaimed most of the former industrial sites, leaving a unique and beautiful wooded valley. The gorge is a now a maze of footpaths, bridleways and country lanes. The former homes of the Victorian Iron Masters and their workers can still be found in the communities around the Gorge. After a break in Ironbridge village, we make our way to Blists Hill Victorian town. This 52-acre site is a bustling recreation of a Victorian town. See curious products in the Chemist, Grocers and Drapers, discover what life was like for a housewife in the cottages, enjoy a drink in the New Inn, a portion of delicious fish and chips, or a bag of old-fashioned sweets.
Day 4: This morning we cross the border into Wales and head to the picturesque town of Llangollen. Here we experience the peace and tranquillity of an included horse-drawn canal boat trip along the Llangollen Canal, now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then take a nostalgic trip back in time through the Dee Valley on the Llangollen Railway before re-joining our coach and making our way over the Horseshoe pass on our return to the hotel.
Day 5: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk making suitable stops along the way. We arrive early evening where we re-join our door to door taxi service who will return you safely home.
