Day 1: Following your home taxi collection we make our way to Sidmouth for a 5-night stay at The Royal York & Faulkner on a dinner bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2: Today we travel to Exmouth, one of the oldest seaside towns in Devon. As one of the most picturesque coastal towns on the south coast, expect to see beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs and traditional seaside delights.
After some free time we board a Stuart Line Cruise along the Jurassic Coastline. There is no better way to see England’s only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, than from the water. During our cruise we enjoy a real Devon cream tea which will be served the Devon way, with heaps of fresh clotted cream on the bottom and finished off with an indulgent dollop of scrumptious strawberry jam – all accompanied with a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee – a match made in Devon!
Day 3: Today is a day at leisure. The town itself nestles beneath the majestic red cliffs of Peak and Salcombe Hill and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley, located on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Renowned for its gardens and famed for its wealth of fine architecture, the picturesque town centre offers an excellent range of individual shops and is a delight to browse.
Day 4: Today we head to Bicton Park Botanical Gardens. Set in Devon's Otter Valley, the Grade I-listed gardens are the product of almost 300 years of horticultural history where the curved design of the 1820s Palm House greenhouse is must-see.
This afternoon we head to Powderham Castle in Kenton which lies in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe. The Castle was first opened to visitors in 1959 and is still the family home of The Earl of Devon. Powderham was built as a medieval great hall, but over the last six centuries has been much adapted and molded by the family who call it home. There have been major building renovations that have seen Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian enhancements, and once inside the Castle you will explore secret doors, see historical artifacts and even cross a haunted landing! Outside there are acres of grounds to explore
Day 5: This morning we travel to the small seaside town of Seaton. This Victorian seaside town of is full of fun activities to do, go fossil hunting on the mile-long beach, walk the coast path, or head into the wetlands. The town is situated at the mouth of the River Axe and boasts some stunning scenery. Upon arrival, we board our tram for a return journey on the Seaton Tramway. Operated on narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon’s glorious Axe Valley, we will travel alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves and giving an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.
Following some free time in the town, we make a heart-warming stop at the much-loved Donkey Sanctuary, where hundreds of rescued donkeys enjoy a peaceful life in beautiful surroundings. Take a leisurely walk around the site, meet the gentle residents, and learn more about the sanctuary’s important work before we return to Sidmouth.
Day 6: Sadly this morning we depart our hotel and head back to Norfolk where our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
