Discover the Heart of Northern England: A Scenic Lakes, Coast & Countryside Tour

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty and rich heritage of Northern England on this unforgettable 7-day journey. From the tranquil waters of the Lake District to the rugged coastline of Northumberland, and the elegant charm of North Yorkshire, this tour offers a perfect blend of stunning landscapes, historic towns, and cultural delights.

Enjoy comfortable accommodations at carefully selected hotels, delicious local cuisine, and plenty of free time to explore at your own pace. Whether you’re wandering picturesque villages, strolling along dramatic coastlines, or indulging in traditional afternoon tea, each day promises new discoveries and lasting memories.

Join us as we explore some of England’s most captivating regions, where natural beauty meets timeless tradition.

Day 1:  Following your home taxi collection, you will join our luxury tour coach and we will head north to Windermere and our hotel for the next 2 nights, the Lakeside Hotel & Spa, on a dinner bed & breakfast basis. You can relax with a glass of Prosecco while your cases are delivered to your rooms.

Day 2:  Today we head north through the stunning Lake District, beginning with a drive along the shores of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake. We pause in the charming town of Windermere before continuing to the tranquil waters of Ullswater.

Next, we arrive in Keswick, a lively market town at the heart of the North Lakes, where we enjoy lunch and have time to explore or relax by Derwentwater.

On our return, we stop in the picturesque village of Grasmere, once home to poet William Wordsworth and famous for its gingerbread. After a leisurely stroll, we return to the hotel, ending a day full of breathtaking views and cultural charm.

Day 3: After breakfast, we depart and begin our scenic journey to Northumberland, where we’ll spend the next two nights at the charming White Swan Hotel (dinner, bed, and breakfast included). En route, we pause to take in the natural beauty of Kielder, a tranquil and picturesque stop nestled in the heart of the countryside.

We arrive in Alnwick by the afternoon, with time to settle in and unwind. This evening, enjoy a welcoming glass of Prosecco before dinner is served at the hotel.

Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast, we set out to explore the dramatic Northumberland coastline, renowned for its unspoiled beaches and historic landmarks. Our first stop is the charming fishing village of Seahouses, where you’ll have free time to stroll along the harbour, browse local shops, or enjoy a coffee with views of the Farne Islands.

We continue along the coast to the beautiful village of Bamburgh, dominated by its iconic castle perched high above the sea. Here, you might choose to visit the fascinating Grace Darling Museum, which tells the story of the local heroine, or take a walk along the expansive golden sands of Bamburgh Beach.

In the afternoon, we return to Alnwick, giving you time to further explore this historic market town at your own pace. Discover its independent shops, enjoy a local tea room, or simply soak in the atmosphere of one of Northumberland’s most picturesque towns.

Day 5:  After breakfast, we bid farewell to Northumberland and begin our journey south to North Yorkshire, where we’ll spend the next two nights at the elegant Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate (dinner, bed, and breakfast included).

Along the way, we stop in the delightful city of Durham, a hidden gem in the northeast, known for its magnificent Durham Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the striking Durham Castle. You’ll have free time to explore the cobbled streets, enjoy a riverside stroll, or perhaps stop for a coffee in one of its charming cafés.

We continue our journey on to Harrogate, arriving in the afternoon with time to settle in and relax at our next destination.

Day 6: Today is yours to enjoy Harrogate at your own pace. Take a relaxing stroll through the beautiful Valley Gardens, a stunning 17-acre park filled with vibrant flowerbeds and peaceful walking paths. You might choose to explore the elegant Montpellier Quarter, home to a variety of independent boutiques, galleries, and antique shops, or wander through the charming Victorian Westminster Arcade.

When it’s time for a break, take your pick from Harrogate’s many inviting restaurants, cafés, and bars—perfect for a leisurely lunch. And for a true Harrogate tradition, why not treat yourself to tea and cake at the iconic Betty’s Tea Rooms, a local institution since 1919?

Day 7:  This morning, we sadly say goodbye to Harrogate and begin our return journey to Norfolk. Along the way, we’ll make convenient stops to stretch and refresh. We expect to arrive in the late afternoon, where our door-to-door taxi service will be waiting to take you safely back to your home.
