Layer Marney Tower with Lunch

Join us for a relaxing day out to the magnificent Layer Marney Tower, the tallest Tudor gatehouse near Colchester.

Built in the early 1500s by Lord Henry Marney, a close ally of King Henry VIII, this striking tower is rich in Tudor history and charm.

Shortly after arrival at Layer Marney Tower, you will take your seat for a traditional Ploughman’s lunch served with tea or coffee before you begin your Guided Tour. Although the casual visitor can enjoy a trip to Layer Marney Tower, for the visitor who wants to learn a little more about the history of the building and the people who lived here, a Guided Tour is the best way to visit.

Generally led by one of the owners, Nicholas or Sheila Charrington, these tours go behind the scenes and into the private side of the house. 

Following your tour and free time to explore the grounds independently before re-joining your coach to depart for home.
