Day 1: Following your home collection via our convenient door-to-door taxi service, you will board our Luxury Executive tour coach for a relaxing journey north to Wales. We spend the night at the charming Faenol Fawr Country House Hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: This morning we travel to Holyhead to board the ferry for our crossing to Dublin. Due to the early departure, breakfast will be served on board.
After arriving in Dublin, we journey west, stopping in Carrick-on-Shannon, a charming town along Ireland’s longest river. From there, we continue to the four-star Castlecourt Hotel & Spa, our base for the next four nights, where you can relax and enjoy dinner.
Day 3: Today we travel via Castlebar to Foxford Woollen Mills. Here we enjoy a self-guided tour of the visitor centre, exploring the fascinating history of the local woollen industry and browsing the adjoining mill shop.
We continue along the scenic shores of Lough Conn and Lough Cullen, passing through Castlebar and Newport to Mulranny, before crossing the road bridge to Achill Island, Ireland’s largest island.
At Achill Sound, we join the famous circular Atlantic Drive, a spectacular route through bogland, farmland, and colourful hedgerows. Along the way, we see the ancient Church of Kildavnet, founded by St. Dympna, and Grace O’Malley’s Castle, the 16th-century watchtower of the legendary pirate queen. We return to Westport in time for dinner.
Day 4: Today is free to explore Westport at your leisure. This distinctive Georgian town is renowned for its tree-lined promenades and elegant streets, situated at the mouth of Clew Bay, dotted with small islands.
You may wish to visit Westport House, a stunning stately home with extensive grounds and a boating lake, or take a gentle stroll along the River Carrowbeg through the heart of town. (attractions subject to individual choice and payment)
Day 5: This morning we travel to Louisburgh, enjoying breathtaking views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain.
We continue through the Doo Lough Valley, framed by the Sheeffry Hills and Mweelrea Mountains, to Leenane, famous as a filming location for The Field. Following the shoreline of Killary Harbour, we arrive at Kylemore Abbey, with its lakeside walks and Gothic church inspired by Norwich Cathedral.
Our return journey passes through Letterfrack and Clifden, with views of the Twelve Bens, before rejoining the main road at Maam Cross and travelling through the rugged Joyce Country back to Westport.
Day 6: After breakfast, we depart Westport and travel to Dublin Port for our return ferry to Holyhead. On arrival in the early evening, we continue to Faenol Fawr Country House Hotel for our final overnight stay, enjoying dinner, bed and breakfast.
