The Yorkshire Dales is an area of great natural beauty and a wonderful place to visit on a coach holiday. This area was designated as a national park in 1954 because of its beautiful rolling countryside, amazing wildlife and cultural heritage.

Consisting of over twenty main dales, all of which vary in character and atmosphere, its breath-taking scenery is why people return year after year.

We have included some real Yorkshire gems on this tour including a guided tour of Ripon Cathedral, and a visit to the jewel in Yorkshire’s crown – Harewood House.

Day 1
Following your home taxi collection we travel to Harrogate, arriving during the afternoon at the Old Swan Hotel for our 4 night stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.

Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast, we head for Harewood House, one of the Treasure Houses of England set in the heart of rural Yorkshire. The house holds an impressive art collection including renaissance masterpieces and exquisite Thomas Chippendale furniture, all combined with 100 acres of spectacular gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden. This afternoon we head to the market town of Skipton, known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive 900-year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in England.

After a leisurely breakfast we leave Harrogate and head for historic York. You will have the day to explore this fascinating city, and with so much to see and do, you will be spoilt for choice! You could visit the National Railway Museum or Jorvik Centre, walk the City Walls, explore the little streets and alleyways in the centre, and not forgetting the magnificent Minster. If you fancy tea & cakes, why not head to the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms. Late afternoon we return to the hotel.

Today is free for you to explore the pretty town of Harrogate. Enjoy a lovely stroll through beautiful Valley Gardens, explore the delightful Victoria arcades for some retail therapy. Have a relaxing lunch in one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars – maybe even visit the famous ‘Betty’s Tearooms’. We have an early evening dinner before tonight’s outing to Ripon. First, we have a behind the scenes guided tour of the beautiful and awe inspiring Ripon Cathedral. Then we head into the market square for one of the oldest English traditions, kept alive for hundreds of years without a break. At 9.00 p.m. the Ripon Hornblower sets the night watch from each corner of the obelisk in the centre of the square to reassure citizens that all is well. Afterwards we have a leisurely ride back to Harrogate.

Sadly we depart our hotel and make our way to Newark for some free time, before continuing our journey back to Norfolk. Upon arrival in Norfolk, our taxi service will be waiting to return you home.

The Old Swan Hotel

The Old Swan Hotel stands in the centre of the lovely town of Harrogate, in Yorkshire, and is famed as being Agatha Christie’s hiding place during her disappearance in 1926. Bedrooms are stylishly furnished, and the public areas include the library restaurant, the Wedgwood Room and the lounge bar. All bedrooms are en suite and have satellite television telephone, hairdryer, and tea & coffee facilities. The hotel has a lift.
